Jennifer fought a courageous battle with lung cancer for nearly three years. She spent her last week of a beautiful well-lived life in ICU at JBER. Our sincere thanks go to the doctors and especially the nurses who gave her the best available care anywhere.
She encountered Myasthenia gravis with a subsequent chest surgery to remove a large tumor at a young 23. The massive radiation damaged her heart and, in 2018, she had open heart surgery at University of Florida, replacing three valves. When she woke up she asked the doctors "Do I oink or do I moo?" While she was still in the hospital they discovered non small cell ALK lung cancer.
She left Florida in June 2019, returning to her family for support. Her constant companion was a beautiful German shepherd, The Lord blessed us with over two years of mostly quality life.
Though her life was shortened, she touched everyone she met with truth, grace and love. She had a beautiful smile and got to your soul in just a few minutes of meeting her. Her sharp mind and sense of humor made her unforgettable. She cared deeply for her family and friends.
She was born in Denver, Colo., as dad was career Air Force and they moved around, until coming to Anchorage in 1979. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1986. She attended UAA for a semester, worked at KFQD/KWHLfor a time, and then she and her brother Charles took off to Orlando to attend Full Sail School for the Recording Arts. She received an associates degree. It was there that Myasthenia gravis was found. She returned home for surgery. After a lengthy recovery she went to Los Angeles, Calif., to be in the recording business. She worked at the Record Plant and met many famous recording artists. It was financially too hard to live there and she returned home. She worked for AK RR Credit Union, then Odom Corporation with Coca Cola for a few years.
She married an Airman in December 1995. Their assignments included Langley, LA Air Force Station, and finally Patrick Air Force Base. She worked as a personal secretary for an attorney for five years in Virginia, as an office manager at Kinder Morgan five years and at several other different businesses on both coasts.
She is survived by parents, Iris and Chuck Boring; loving brother, Charles and wife Denise; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life potluck will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 2-5 p.m., at American Legion Muldoon Post 29, 1467 Muldoon Road in Anchorage. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
