Longtime valley resident Robert Lee Berry, 71 of Wasilla, Alaska, joined his family and friends in Heaven on April 23, 2022, after a long battle with kidney disease. Bob was born on Aug. 22, 1950, in Vallejo, Calif.
Bob is survived by his beautiful wife, Diann Fine Berry; son, Robert Lee Berry Jr. of Sanford, Fla.; stepdaughters, Brenda (Carpenter) Davis of Wasilla and Rebecca (Carpenter) Enger of Gilbert, Ariz.; brother, Mike Berry of Oviedo, Fla.; sister, Linda Suggs of Orlando, Fla.; grandkids, Dusten Stanford, Adam Davis, Alan Davis, Danielle Lease, Jacob Davis, Joshua Davis, Faith Berry, Robyn Berry and Madeline Davis; great-grandkids, Gavin Davis, Aaron Lease, Delaney Lease, Tristen Stanford and Emmitt Davis; nephews, Nathan Berry, Brent Berry and Bryan Berry; and niece, Nicole Suggs.
Bob grew up in Orlando and graduated from Mid Florida Technical High School in 1969. He then worked for Sherrod Flooring for many years, where he installed carpet and vinyl. He enjoyed fishing and gator hunting with his buddies on their airboats.
Bob came to Alaska in January 1985, to visit his longtime friend Nick Reining. Bob met Diann on a Memorial Day canoe trip when Nick and Marty, Diann's brother, decided Bob needed a canoe partner. The rest is history and for the next 36 years they were together.
Together Bob and Diann started "Bob Berry Floors" and Bob worked all over Alaska until he retired in 2004.
Bob loved hunting, fishing, camping and the beautiful outdoors of Alaska. He loved to ride his Harley on sunny days and couldn't resist a good s'more around the campfire with the grandkids.
Bob is preceded in death by his father, Ken Berry; mother, Mary Berry; and brother, Craig Berry, all of Kissimee, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 11 a.m., with a reception following.
