Misty Marvel Patterson-Cartes passed away on April 11, 2022, at 6:57 p.m.

She was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, to Robert "Bob" and Rosaline Patterson, and was the youngest of seven siblings. Misty attended West High School, graduating in 1996, and was also runner up in the miss Alaska Teen Coed pageant that same year. She loved to adventure and travel, her favorite destination being Hawaii where she'd stay for weeks at a time, exploring the islands and doing everything from surfing to scuba diving. Even naming her first daughter after the Hawaiian Princess "Kealani," who she'd later take there, along with her other two children, and show all the cool places to go and things to do. She absolutely loved and adored her children, whom she loved to show off and was incredibly proud of. She was always finding ways to be creative, make them feel special and have fun with. From making them pancakes in the shape of their initials, to fishing, swimming, jet skiing, hiking and more - even once hiking a mountain in a pair of heels because her children spontaneously decided to while driving past, and she didn't want to miss out, even though she had forgotten sneakers. She loved to cook, always trying new recipes and sharing them with her family.

She had a way with words and was great with people and could always find a way to make you smile - or laugh, as she had a great sense of humor as well. She loved giving back to her community whenever she could, however she could, and was there for people when they needed it. She never judged anyone for their history or where they were at in life and would always carry extra fruit and snacks in her car to give to those in need - even filling up an entire shopping cart on Christmas morning with her mother to give out to the less fortunate.

She will be missed terribly by her friends and family, and remembered for her incredible strength and loving, adventurous soul. She is survived by her mother, Rosaline Patterson; husband, Daniel Cartes; daughters and son-in-law, Kealaunie Wilson, Brooklyn Cartes, Trinity Cartes, and Christian Schmoe; grandkids, Kailea and Zen Schmoe; best friend, Stephanie Moreno; sisters and brothers, Cheryl Bowie, Tammy Avila, Shelly Cortes, Robert Patterson Jr. and Jason Patterson; nephew, John Micheal Bowie; and many other nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her father, Robert "Bob" Patterson; brothers, Carl Richard Bowie Jr. and Charles James Bowie; and nephew, Carl Richard Bowie III.
