Wilma Christensen

Mar 22, 1960 -

Mar 25, 2022

Wilma Christensen was born in Kwiguk, Alaska, currently known as Emmonak, on March 22, 1960, to Aloysius Sr. and Adeline Hootch. She grew up commercial salmon fishing with her grandfather Charlie Hootch, playing basketball, hunting and gathering. She loved to pick berries and sew skins.

After high school, Wilma married Donald Christensen who raised her daughter Clara like his own. Together they built their own house and had three boys: Robert, Craig and David. They eventually moved to Anchorage, Alaska, and would return to Emmonak summers to commercial fish.

Wilma raised her family with the traditional knowledge passed down to her. As an entrepreneur, she started her own daycare business, then transitioned to her hospitality business, Wilma's Place LLC, that she ran for 21 years.

Wilma will be greatly missed, and we will cherish the good memories we've had with her forever.
