John Rodriguez

John Martin Rodriguez Jr., 85, of Vick, Texas, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022, in

San Angelo, Texas.

Public viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Robert Massie Funeral Home, with a Rosary at 6 p.m. Local arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Mr. Rodriguez will be buried in Coosa River Cemetery in Coosa River, Ala., under the direction of Ridout's Brown-Service in Prattville, Ala.

Mr. Rodriguez was born on Nov. 24, 1936, in Eola to Juan and Catilina Pertida Rodriguez. He graduated from Wall High School and attended Angelo State University. John served in the U.S. Air Force and did a tour in Vietnam. He retired after 33 years of service in 1990 as a Chief Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, John worked for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company and later for British Petroleum. He retired in 2001 as a consultant. John was a college boxer and softball player; he also played softball for the Air Force, and enjoyed basketball and judo. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of St. Phillip Catholic Church in Eola, Texas. He was married to Josephine Jones, who passed away in 2011. John later married Mary Broyles and she passed away in 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Daniel Rodriguez. Survivors include two sons, Steven Rodriguez of Vick and Joe Alfred Rodriguez and wife Valerie of Grovetown, Ga.; two sisters, Elida Rodriguez of Lakewood, Colo., and Maria "Vicky" Talavera of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren, Rhiannon Frantz and husband Daryl of Eatonville, Wash., Ashley Roberts and husband Jamaal of Anchorage, Alaska, and Danielle Rodriguez of Evans, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Lathan Frantz, Eibhlean Frantz, Jack Frantz, Max Frantz and Fearghail Frantz; and significant other, Trini Rangel of San Angelo.
