Lifelong Alaskan Brian Andrew Petersen, 52, passed away on March 26, 2022, at home.

A service will be held at Legacy Wasilla Heritage Chapel, 1015 South Check Street in Wasilla, Alaska. The viewing will be on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 1 p.m., and the service will start at 2 p.m. Arrangements will be made for burial later in the spring.

Brian was born on Friday, Nov. 13, 1969, in Anchorage, Alaska, the loving son of Ronald W. and Nellie Beierle Petersen. He grew up in Anchorage and Eagle River, attending Chugiak High School in 1995. He moved to 555 South Pass The Buck Circle in Wasilla, where he lived for 22 years.

Brian was an avid camper and enjoyed the Alaska outdoors, fishing, riding ATVs and snowmachines, and working at his mining claim on Rabideux Creek. He had a variety of jobs in his younger years, but settled into handyman and repair work as his business enterprise. He met Kitty Benson in 2011 while remodeling her house. They were married on Feb. 14, 2017, in Palmer, Alaska, and made their home at 284 North Tiffany Drive in Palmer for the past five years.

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Ann Petersen of Palmer; mother, Nelly Petersen of Carlisle, Pa.; brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Selena Petersen of Anchorage; two nieces, Jennifer Hurley of California and Jacklyn Donahue of Boise, Idaho; wife, Kitty Petersen of Palmer; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Lance Benson; three granddaughters, Savannah, Ava and Evelyn Benson, all of Lacey, Wash.; and son, Leo Metcalf of Anchorage. Brian was preceded in death by his father Ron Petersen.

The family asks that donations be made to AM Vets Post 11, 951 South Hermon Road, Suite 2, Wasilla, AK 99654, in lieu of flowers.
