Apr 3, 2022
Julio "Joe" Reloza was born on Oct. 18, 1950, to Alex Patrick and Angela Corpuz Reloza in Santo Tomas, La Union, Philippines. At the age of 71, he passed away at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska, surrounded by family, and with his wife, Angelita, holding his hand.
Joe spent his childhood in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States at the age of 18. He first worked for the U.S. Treasury Department before being drafted into the United States Air Force. He dedicated his life to the military, also serving with the Alaska Air National Guard. Once he retired from military life, he worked at Cordova Correctional Center, and then Providence Hospital in material management until he fully retired.
He loved cooking, bowling, fishing, visiting with family, traveling, socializing with friends and, most of all, being with his wife, children and grandkids. One might say he never fully retired, because he was a full time "Papa," or to the kids - "Tickle Monster," following his career.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alex; mother, Angela; sister, Ligaya Booth; and nephew, Arnel Fajardo. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Angelita Reloza; children, Leonard Reloza, Julie Reloza-Keating and Stephanie Wooten and their families; siblings, Liling Fajardo, Luzvimin Justo, Angie Rivera, Priscilla Calonge and Ramon Reloza and their families; and many other relatives in the Lower 48 and the Philippines.
A wake will be held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street in Anchorage, on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. The funeral will take place at St. Patrick's Parish, 2111 Muldoon Road in Anchorage, on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 4 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. A reception in the Deacon's Hall will follow to celebrate Joe's life.
