Mar 24, 2022
Tim Kelly "the Biker not the Skier" was born on July 2, 1952, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, to Gordon and Agatha Kelly. He left us unexpectedly the morning of March 24, 2022.
Tim, Timmy, Doofus Dad, Papa, just a few of the names he was called regularly, traveled with his family in 1964 from Canada to settle in Anchorage. He attended East High School and was part of the 1970 graduating class. Soon after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1972 and served until 1974. Shortly after returning from the Army, he started working for the Municipality of Anchorage and landed at the Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility, where he spent his years as an engineer until retirement in July 2008. After retirement, he and his wife, Vicky, moved to Colorado for eight years. They returned to Alaska in 2016, when Vicky's health declined.
Some of Tim's favorite things were cycling, hockey, speedskating, woodworking, music, movies and "GSD" – getting stuff done. You would've been lucky to have sprinted to a finish line with him, gone for a bike ride on his favorite trail, shared some ice time for a goal, "gone fast and turned left" speedskating, received a crafty wood project for your home, grabbed a beer at a concert or shared a large popcorn at the newest flick. For all of these things, he will be dearly missed.
Tim was preceded in death by his mum and dad; beloved wife, Vicky; and younger brother, David Kelly. He is survived by his children, Faye (Brian) Fraze, Sean Kelly and Andy Kelly; granddaughters, LilyAnn Kelly (Tosha Swan, mother) and Gracie Fraze; brothers, Roy (Janice) Kelly, Myles (Maris) Kelly, Michael Kelly and Barry Kelly; nieces, Erin Chapman, Andrea Kelly, Catherine Kelly and Susanna Shankar; and many more extended family members and close friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 3-7 p.m., at the 49th State Brewing Co. Heritage Theater.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family asks that you choose to support Tim's favorite charities Anchorage Skate Club, Alaska Speedskating Club and Let Every Woman Know - Alaska.
Rest In Adventure!
