It is with much sadness that I report the death of Steven Sutton. He passed away at home in September 2021.
Though born in Sitka, Alaska, in early life he lived mostly in Juneau, Alaska, and enjoyed an idyllic childhood. He graduated a year early from high school and earned a letterman's jacket in the Rifle Club. He worked as a Cadet in the Juneau Police Department, which influenced his choice of jobs for the rest of his life. He moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1978, where he worked a variety of jobs, including long distance operator, EMT, caregiver at Hope Cottages and several security guard positions at University of Alaska, a hospital, a local high school, as well as others. He prided himself on his expertise in that field, receiving advanced training in all areas. He enjoyed the aspect of helping others, gave presentations, defused problems and counted on his ability to contend with difficult situations.
He had many interests which he pursued fervently. He had several sports teams and icons to follow over the years, but his abiding hobby was his love of music. He was able to see live concerts and had a massive LP collection. He enjoyed reading, movies and photography.
He is survived by his sister, Kristie and her husband Myron Walker, as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by parents, Andrew and Emily Sutton. Private services were held.
