Kevin Duane Carter

May 20, 1961 -

Jan 12, 2022

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Kevin Duane Carter, a bright spark in this world who will be deeply missed. Kevin was born on May 20, 1961, in Anchorage, Alaska, and departed this earthly life on Jan. 12, 2022, in Seattle, Wash.

Kevin attended East Anchorage High School and Charter College. He had a passion for the culinary arts, and cooked in Anchorage, San Francisco, Calif., and Seattle; playing basketball, which was one of his forms of meditation; and playing his guitar, a hobby from his days of performing in a band. In his younger years, Kevin was in a dance troupe with his sister and best friend called the J.C. Truckers.

For the past seven years Kevin and his family have held nightly prayer gatherings, a tradition started by his mother and father, and one which Kevin joyously shared with others.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, LaRhonda Carter of San Francisco; devoted daughters, Shay Carter of Seattle and La'Qoia Walker (Marcus Henry) of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughters, Da'Myra Schmidt, Kalaya Henry, Paris Felitz, Trinity Felitz, Nylah Henry and Courtney Henry; great-grandson, Damir Tibbs; brother and sisters, Eric Carter, Jeannemisha Carter, Renee Carter, Tracee Carter and Perette Carter; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; and friend, Ishmael Schmidt.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Mack Jr. and Dorothy Carter; sister, Peggy Ann Carter; brother, John Alec Carter; and grandparents, Lula and John Holliday, and Lorene and Alec Martinez Carter.

Kevin had an awesome sense of humor and loved fiercely and deeply, and we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace surrounded by light and love uplifted by his daily affirmation, "he restoreth my soul." Psalm 23:3.

A balloon release will be held to honor Kevin on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at Windsong Park, 1417 Carolyn Circle in Anchorage, at 6 p.m.
