Lance J. Myers, 66, passed away on Dec. 17, 2021, from a car accident that occurred on Parks Highway, near Houston, Alaska.
He was born on Nov. 13, 1955, in Sacramento County, Calif. He grew up in both California and Iowa, and graduated from Wayne County High School in Corydon, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and sister, Krista Elliot. He is survived by his loving wife, Kelly (Grawunder) Myers; mother, Beverly Grenz and husband Reinhard; father, Virgil Myers and wife Linda; brother, Blane Myers; sister, Callie Witmer and husband Dax; sister, Nikki McHugh and husband Kenny; and brother, Damon Chidester. He is also survived by nephews, Cody and Mason; nieces, Morgan and Grace; faithful companion, Stud; and many of Kelly's family who loved Lance dearly.
Lance and Kelly were fulfilling their dream living in Montana, Alaska. He loved fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, fixing up their property, gardening, racing cars and boats and, most importantly, his family. In addition to being a member of Alaska Teamsters and Local 302, Lance owned A-1 Construction and Artic Extreme Environmental Products which included his Heavy Haul Transport business.
Lance showed not only his family, but his friends and his colleagues his love, respect and support. His father, Virgil, told others: "He was the best man I've ever known. He was honest, trustworthy and a great son." His mother, Beverly, said, "Lance always showed me his love and respect." Sister Callie says of her brother: "He was a man of great skill and character. I always had his support and love." His brother Blane said: "I have 60 years of memories, there are too many to list. I'm glad we had a fantastic hunt together before his tragic death."
A celebration of life for our beloved Lance will take place in late spring. In lieu of flowers, Lance would say "go fishing."
