Dec 10, 2021

Longtime Alaskan Patricia "Patsy" Kaas passed away quietly on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, surrounded by family, at the age of 90.

Born in Iowa, on Oct. 20, 1931, to Howard and Ruth Myers, she was the third of five girls and one brother. The family moved from Iowa to South Dakota and then to Washington state, where she met her future husband, Norman Kaas. They married in Kennewick, Wash., on Aug. 29, 1952. In 1968, Patsy, Norman and their children moved to Alaska, where they have resided since.

Patsy's love for her family was true, deep and absolute. Her quick wit, easy humor and rare fine gift for putting others at ease will be missed beyond measure.

Patsy is survived by her husband, Norman; daughter, Lori (Rocky) Smith; son, Terry (Sally) Kaas; son, Rodney (Heather) Kaas; daughter, Marnie (Eric) Jensen; sisters, Beverly Kaas and Bernice Caler; brother, Bud Myers; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family is deeply appreciative of the tender care she received at the Riverside Assisted Living facility and additionally the medical team who cared for her and provided gracious support and guidance to her loved ones through the final stage of her life. In honor of Patsy's wishes, no service will be held.
