Dr. Kevin Maguire, D.O., 67, physician, sportsman, pilot, Army veteran and proud father to Elisabeth, Catherine and Kyle, passed away on Nov. 9, 2021, after a brief illness in Anchorage, Alaska, where he lived for over 30 years.
Dr. Maguire was born in the Bronx, N.Y., to James and Marie (Meeks) Maguire in 1954, and the family moved to New Jersey in 1957. Kevin graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Metuchen, and the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind. He began his medical career after graduating from the Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1980. Dr. Maguire interned at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, and was a resident in Ophthalmology at Walter Reed before relocating to Alaska to practice general medicine. He was honorably discharged from the Army with the rank of Major.
Dr. Maguire was predeceased by his father, James P. Maguire; and uncle, Thomas Meeks. He is survived by his partner, Rebecca Barbosa; mother, Marie Maguire of New Jersey; siblings, Mary (Albert) Mott of Colorado, Rose Maguire of New Jersey, James Maguire of Wisconsin, Stephen Maguire of Ireland, and Ellen (Doug) Moore of South Carolina; and beloved children, Elisabeth, Catherine and Kyle Maguire. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory his aunt; seven nieces and nephews; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; two cousins; and innumerable lifelong friends and colleagues who will all dearly miss him, his kindness and his storytelling.
He will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Jamesburg, N.J. Services will be held privately by the family at a later date.
