Long-time Alaska resident Janette Schlereth, 81, passed away Oct. 15, 2021, at Providence Hospital surrounded by her adoring family and in the loving embrace of her husband of 59 years, Herbert Schlereth. Mrs. Schlereth was the granddaughter of Alaska gold rush pioneers and was born Oct. 6, 1940, to gold miners George and Betty Ramstad in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Janette was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who selflessly gave her time and her love freely without expectations in return. A longtime member of United Christian Church, Janette loved sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, her philanthropic work, sewing with her sisters, and making beautiful works of art for her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Janette was kind, gracious, loving, and always there with an encouraging word and an uplifting prayer for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Schlereth; daughter & son-in-law, Jana & Raymond DePriest, and granddaughter's Kalei and Leya; son and daughter-in-law, Mark & Lisa Schlereth and her grandkids, Alexandria, Daniel, & Avery; great grandkids from her grandson, Daniel and wife, Breanne, Quinn, Drew, & Zane. Her beloved nephew, Brian Ramstad, whom she lovingly raised in her home from the age of 6; and sisters, Donna, Linda, and Debbie.
A Celebration of Life will be announced in the spring.
