Roger Hemphill

Roger Hemphill, 72, died on Nov. 3, 2021, while at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska.

A service will be held at Legacy Funeral Homes, Bragaw Chapel, 1707 South Bragaw Street in Anchorage. Viewing will be from 2:30-3:30 p.m., with Service from 3:30-5 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021.

Roger was born on Dec. 16, 1948, in Cleveland, Miss., to Luther and Ollie Hemphill.

He graduated from Drew High School in 1966, and Mississippi State in 1970, earning an accounting bachelor's degree.

He worked for years at the Federal Bureau of Prisons before moving his family to Eagle River, Alaska, in 1988. He then worked for Universal Services until his retirement. In retirement, he started ProTax Accounting Services.

Roger was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4207 in Anchorage. He served various positions over the years including, Board of Trustees, President of Aerie #4207, Alaska State President and Past Pacific Northwest Regional President.

His passion was "People Helping People" through the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved spending time with family and camping with friends.

He is survived in Alaska by his wife, Dina Niver; their cat kids, Smokey and Shadow; sons, Eliot and Jason and their mother, Sandra; daughters-in-law, Jennifer and Vivian; grandchildren, Logan, Evan, Nathan Hemphill and Mark and Liam Wilson, and brother, David Blaylock of Mississippi.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ollie Hemphill; sisters, Lottie Overstreet and Bernice Blaylock; and brother, Luther Jr.

They family asks that flower donations go to Legacy Funeral Home, 1707 South Bragaw Street in Anchorage, for the service. Donations to the Fraternal Order of Eagles Charity Foundation are welcomed.
