Chuck passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, at the age of 83.
Chuck was truly one of the kindest, patient and most warm-hearted men most people have ever known. If you ever spent any time with Chuck Booher in Anchorage or just about anywhere in Alaska, it didn't matter where you went, there was a good chance he would run into someone he knew.
He lived a full life and those that knew him appreciated his love of Alaska, his endless stories, his drives with his wife Mary, his enjoyment of his black lab Puppy, his love of fishing and hunting, and great pride in his kids, grandkids, great grandkids and extended family. Of special joy to him was his lot in Soldotna, fondly called "The Property" by the family. He loved the years his family and friends spent fishing and being together there
Born in Bemidji, Minn, to Robert Booher and Pauline Holthaus Booher, Chuck moved to Alaska in 1958 after graduating from Shenandoah Community High School. He was proud of being in Alaska before it became a state. He eventually went back to college and received both a Bachelors in Finance in 1964 and an MBA in Economics in 1965 from the University of Denver. After graduating, he returned to Alaska and worked a variety of jobs in a young and exciting state. Those jobs included working at First National Bank of Anchorage, teaching economics at Anchorage Community College, working in the Anchorage office of the Alaska Department of Economic Development with Frank Murkowski, managing the Remote Housing Program for the Alaska State Housing Authority, Real Estate Department Manager for RCA Alascom and General Manager of Skyway Realty before opening his own real estate and construction office in 1983. At the time of his death, he had the lowest active real estate license in the State- #83. Chuck also built a four-plex and several homes in addition to his current home in East Anchorage.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Gibbs; children, Mary Pierson, Matt (Kim) Booher, Ben (Penny) Booher, Dan (Diane) Booher, John (Heather) Booher; and stepchildren, Trey (Christie) Gibbs, Elizabeth Battaglia, Bo (Alison) Gibbs; and 27 much loved grand and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Henry 'Hank' (Joanna) Booher of Clearwater, Fla.
