Anthony Wayne Schmidt passed on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at the age of 63, with his children by his side. He was a longtime resident of Alaska, moving here in 1982. Anthony is survived by his daughter, Crystal Higgins and husband Eric; daughter, Mary Schmidt; son, Robert Schmidt; and grandson, Colton Higgins; mother, Bernice Schmidt; and siblings, Vicky Diaz, Debbie Flippin, Dan Schmidt and Pam Wade.

Anthony "Tony" was a one of a kind man with a heart of gold, who loved his children more than anything else.

He found joy in creating beautiful firework shows to share with his community. He was employed as a pyro-technician for the past several years. If he wasn't wiring fireworks, he could be found at any racetrack or baseball game.

He selflessly volunteered to clean the Parks Highway and also donated countless hours to the Alaska State Fair running the Poultry Division and baby chicks in the barn. Tony was the previous owner of Triple D Farm and Hatchery in Palmer, Alaska, and also ran a snowplow business in the winter.

He will be greatly missed by many.

The family held a private ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021. They plan to hold a larger Memorial Service in the summer.
