Obituary

Kathryn Nielsen

May 22, 1942 -

Aug 7, 2021

Mrs. Kathryn Nielsen died in Anchorage, Alaska, on Aug. 7, 2021, at the age of 79. Kathy is survived by her children, Glen Nielsen and Kristi Cain; daughter and son-in-law, Patti Nielsen and Lyle Cain; grandchildren, Megan and Christopher Nielsen; and brother, Phillip Beaubien. She is preceded in death by her husband of almost 51 years, Dennis "Yogi" Nielsen; and parents, Glen and Nina Beaubien.

Kathy worked hard to create a loving home for her family in the Anchorage of the early 1970s. She worked for the Anchorage Public Library - Mt. View branch, the Anchorage School District as a substitute teacher and as a legal librarian for the Law Firm of Bradbury, Bliss & Riordan.

Kathy enjoyed literature, music and the natural beauty that Alaska offered. Most of all, she loved her family. Her husband Yogi was the love of her life. Their time together whether here in Alaska, or in their later years in Arizona, were as she described them, the best of her life.

The last two years of Kathy's life found her here in Anchorage, close to her children and their families. While at times that did present challenges, more importantly it grew an even closer bond between her and her family. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of life is scheduled for June 2022, at her cabin home in Sterling, Alaska.
