Aug 15, 2021
Cindy Witt, 62, passed away unexpectedly alongside her husband Gary, on Aug. 15, 2021, due to being struck head on by a driver passing into their lane along mile 87 of the Parks highway in Alaska.
Cindy was born to parents Melvin and Darlene Carlson on Sept. 27, 1958, in Baudette, Minn. She attended Lake of the Woods School. She met and soon married Gary on Dec. 28, 1974, in Baudette. Cindy helped with Gary's family farm, worked for his construction company and loved driving the dump truck. She also was the company's bookkeeper. In 1982, Gary, Cindy, pregnant with Gary Jr., and daughter Nicole (4) took a convoy of equipment and friends up the Alcan Highway to begin a new chapter in Alaska. She continued to work for their construction company, GLW Enterprises, while raising a family. Being a mom was her favorite job of all. After 27 years she began a new career in medical billing, working for several offices over the years. Cindy retired from Southside Eyecare and Optical. Most recently Cindy has been raising chickens and organic veggies on Witt Family Farm.
Cindy loved spending time with family, boat rides on the lake, adventures with her granddaughter, fishing, spoiling her two dogs, farming and keeping chickens.
Cindy was a hardworking, self-taught woman. Above all, she loved her family, friends, Jesus and being a grandma. She gave her all to raising a family, building a construction business and learning a new career field. Recently retired, she was able to truly enjoy the fruits of her labor. Cindy had a giving spirit and a heart of gold. She knew Jesus as her Savior and we are comforted in knowing we'll see her and Gary again in Heaven. John 3:16
Cynthia is survived by sister-in-law, Linda Carlson of Minn.; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Jim Marsh of Alaska; and son, Gary Jr., daughter-in-law Rachel, and granddaughter Grace of Alaska.
A Celebration of Life for Cindy and Gary will be held at Anchorage Baptist Temple on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at 12 p.m., officiated by Pastor Ron Hoffman.
