Judith Kay Lind

Judith Kay Lind passed away on July 18, 2021, at Alaska Regional Hospital surrounded by her loved ones following complications from cervical spine surgery.

Judith was born in Longmont, Colo., and graduated in 1958 from Powell High School in Powell, Wyo. In 1962, she graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in elementary education. She taught for three years in Denver, Colo., before moving to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1966, where she taught for three years at Rodgers Park Elementary.

In 1969, she married Carl Lind in Girdwood, Alaska, where they lived for two years before moving to Anchorage. In 1987, she returned to teaching as the librarian at Turnagain Elementary until her retirement in 1998.

In retirement, Judith and Carl travelled extensively, both in Alaska and abroad. She made 30 trips over the Alaska Highway, visited all 50 states numerous times, visited 23 foreign countries and five continents. Her favorite camping spot was any Hampton Inn.

Her hobbies were reading, crossword puzzles and anything involving her granddaughter Harper.

She leaves behind her husband of 51 years, Carl; son, Luke; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; granddaughter, Harper; sister, Jana Lohrenz; niece, Kendra Clement; nephew, Seth Hollyman; good friend, Anne Smith; frequent traveling companions, Tom and Sherry Yost; along with many other extended relatives and good friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Aug. 20, 2021, from 6-9 p.m., at the Fox Hollow Chalet on Brayton Drive. Please bring any memories to share.
