Jan 19, 2021
Daniel Hadley Goldstein of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away at home, unexpectedly, on Jan. 19, 2021. He was born on July 23, 1975, to Joel Perry Goldstein and Jewel Crafts in White Pine, Mich., on their way back to the Denver area, where he grew up. Daniel attended St. John's Military School in Salina, Kan., where he made many lifelong friends that he considered his brothers. He was able to reconnect with many of them over the last few years, which he was very thankful for.
Daniel moved to Anchorage shortly after high school, working at various jobs until he landed at Alaska Safety Inc. in April 2006, where he worked until his passing. He also spent many years working at Flight Deck Pizza, where he prided himself on his customer service skills, as he did at Alaska Safety. He was known for going out of his way to find what customers needed, doing his research to find the best prices with the fastest delivery. If ever you needed help with anything, Daniel was there to lend a hand any way that he could.
His daughter Mae Lynn was his pride and joy, and he absolutely loved watching her become the beautiful young woman she is today. He was excited to see what she would do in life, and always knew that she would go on to do remarkable things. He loved getting to be silly with her and rarely missed a choir concert or school function.
Daniel was loved by many and will be missed by anyone who ever got the chance to know him. Despite the challenges life threw at him, he always stayed positive, kept a smile on his face and never failed to make the best of any situation. If he could get an unhappy child to smile, or the chance to take a toy away from Aesop - our favorite pit - and mess with him, it made his day.
Daniel was survived by his mother, Jewel Crafts-Berry of Denver; daughter, Mae Lynn Goldstein of Anchorage; wife, Gidgette of Anchorage; stepsons, Austin Portch of Spokane, Wash., and Trevor Portch of Anchorage; as well as many extended family members and numerous friends and co-workers that considered him family, including all the littles that called him Uncle Dan.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021 at 5 p.m. at the covered pavilion behind the Kincaid Chalet. There is a play area for children, as well as plenty of tables and lawn to spread out on. Food is in the works, but will likely be burgers and dogs, so if you would like to bring something to share, please feel free, but it is certainly not necessary. Please reach out to Gidgette at 907-764-6317 with any questions.
