Sara, born Oct. 30, 1933, was the third child born to Grace McCune and Roger Ormond in Grove City, Pa. She continued to live there and attend schools until she graduated from Grove City College in 1955. She was certified to teach English, speech and drama. Sara taught eight years at Hickory Township High School and later in Anchorage at Service Senior and Hanshew Jr. High schools. Following her retirement from the Anchorage School District, Sara worked part-time as the House Manager at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts for 11 years. In 2010, she moved to Palmer and again found the small town atmosphere she loved during her growing up years in Pennsylvania. Sara's retirement included volunteering with Providence Extended Care Center Auxiliary. There she met and enjoyed many new friendships which continued until her death.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, John. She is survived by sister, Grace O. Johnson; niece and family, Kate, Glenn, Kyle and Nora Kuper; nephew and family, Mark and Annie Johnson and Reagan Johnson. Sara will be buried in Calvary Cemetery in Butler, Pa.
