Nancy Mildred Heymann

Apr 18, 1954 -

Apr 28, 2021

Nancy was born in Bryn Mawr, Penn., to John Chesley and Dorothy Garnet Heymann.

Nancy grew up on the Jersey shore, riding the waves, getting too many sun burns and working at the local diner. Nancy attended Southern Regional High School in Manahawkin, N.J., and graduated in 1972. Throughout her high school career, she was a member of the National Honor Society, a recipient of the Daughters of American Revolution DAR award, a member of the majorettes and was an accomplished guitar player and song writer. Following high school, she attended University of Vermont in Burlington and graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. After graduation, Nancy moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she began her nursing career. Utah wasn't quite what she was looking for, so she headed further west to Oakland, Calif., and worked as a night nurse in the ER at Oakland General Hospital sharpening her nursing skills.

Nancy met her first husband, James Jones, in 1980; they were married in California in 1981, and subsequently moved to Alaska for better career opportunities. Nancy continued her nursing career in Anchorage, Alaska, for 20 years and took pleasure in her work. Nancy's favorite pastimes were downhill skiing, water skiing and traveling to Hawaii. She was passionate about helping others; whether it was through her work or volunteering during her free time, she loved giving back and seeing the smile it left on other people's lives. Her warm and compassionate heart will truly be missed by those who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her daughters, Margaret Jones and Susan Doll; sisters, Barbara Lloyd (Gary), Cindy Clark, Sandy Davidson (Keith), Patti Schwiebert (John), Bob Heymann (Flossie); first husband, JR Jones; her life partner, Brian Kemp; and Sweetie Pie, the bird.
