Nicholas "Nick" Curt Schroeder

Jul 30, 1985 -

May 25, 2021

With the death of Nick Curt Schroeder, the world lost a shining light. Nick died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at the age of 35. He was called to heaven, where he was reunited with his Heavenly Father and beloved grandparents. Nick was born on July 30, 1985, in Portland, Ore. He graduated from Service High in Anchorage, Alaska, in 2003. He studied chemical engineering at Montana State, worked on the North Slope and later became a power lineman, a profession he loved. Whether on the Slope or working as a power lineman, Nick was well-liked and respected by co-workers.

Nick spent most of his life in Alaska exploring the wonders of the land. Whether racing down ski slopes, fishing for kings on the Kenai River, rafting the turquoise waters of the Russian River or hunting moose and caribou in the fall, Nick lived life to the fullest. Nick was surrounded by family and friends wherever he was. If you were Nick's friend, you were his family; if you were family, there was nothing he wouldn't do for you. Nick had recently become engaged before his passing. His family takes comfort in knowing that the last days of his life were some of the happiest. Shortly before he died, Nick stated he was the happiest man alive.

Nick leaves behind a multitude of people who loved him dearly. He is survived by his parents, Curt and Mary Jane Schroeder; sister, Lacey Schroeder; niece, Wilhelmina Schroeder Porembski; his fiancee, Bianca Sandoval and her daughter Lua; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Yvonne and Pug Williams and Alvina and Richard Schroeder. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, June 7, 2021, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Gilbert, Ariz. A Celebration of Life will follow in Alaska at a later date.
