Eileen Theresa Kramer

Longtime Anchorage, Alaska, resident Eileen Theresa Kramer passed away in her home from natural causes on May 24, 2021. She was born in Tooele, Utah, on July 29, 1932, to Timothy and Sarah Sullivan. She married her husband, Charles C. Kramer, in 1959, and shortly thereafter moved to Anchorage to homestead in Rabbit Creek and start a family. She joined the local chapter of Catholic Daughters of America in 1962, and was active throughout her life.

Eileen devoted 38 years working at the Archdiocese of Anchorage, culminating her tenure as the Vice Chancellor. In 2017, she was presented with the Pontifical Order of St. Gregory, an award made by the Holy See in Rome for notable service to the Catholic Church, the highest honor for a lay person.

Eileen is survived by her sons, Timothy, Charles and Joseph; grandchildren, Amanda Blackwell, Robyn, Sydney, Madison and Bryson Kramer; as well as great-grandchildren, Synthea and Neil Blackwell. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Rev. Monsignor John Sullivan; daughter, Diana; and grandchildren, Alexander and Cynthia Crapps.

The family would like to provide their heartfelt thanks to Providence Hospice Care and Preferred Care at Home for preserving her dignity during her last weeks.

Services will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, with visitation beginning on June 1, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. A funeral mass officiated by Emeritus Archbishop Roger Schwietz follows at 12:30 p.m.
