Susan Kay Munford, 61, of Wasilla, Alaska, passed away at her home on April 20, 2021.
Sue was born on Nov. 21, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Lois and Robert Munford. The family moved to Palmer, Alaska, in 1962. As a child she spent most of her time riding and showing horses, where she won many competitions. As an adult, Sue was a beautician. She loved doing hair and gained many lifelong friends from co-workers and clients. Family was the most important part of life to her, and she had a large family who loved her and will miss her dearly. She also had a special love for her dogs, Paul, Maggie and Dewey. Her proudest accomplishments were her daughter, Chelsey; and two granddaughters, Rylee and Lily.
She is survived by her daughter, Chelsey Munford; granddaughters, Rylee and Lily Horton; parents, Lois Munford and Bob Munford; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Stan George; and nieces and nephews, Tyler George, Melissa George and daughter Kali Mueller, Haley George and partner Nate Weishuhn, and Luke George with his partner Reanna Stewart and daughter Lexius Stewart.
Sue had a heart of gold that will never be matched. Although the world will be different without her presence, her family chooses to focus on and remember the happiness, love and, most of all, funny times she brought to them.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mat-Su Animal Shelter, 9470 East Chanlyut Circle, Palmer, AK 99645. A celebration of life will be held later in the summer.
