It is with the heaviest of hearts that we mourn the passing of our beloved brother Bobby, "Bobby DJ." Bobby passed away peacefully recently a few weeks shy of his 70th birthday.
Bobby was born, raised and passed at home in New York City. He called Anchorage, Alaska, home for a few years and while here he worked on Elmendorf Air Force Base - now Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Before that he served all of us and our country honorably in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Thor and traveled the world.
For those of you who knew Bobby DJ there was no doubt that music and especially The Beatles were his passion. My brother Bobby started putting headphones on my head from as early as I could remember, 5 or 6 years old, saying "... check this out! ..." and ever since I have shared his love of music and The Beatles.
From there his passion extended to DJ'ing back when disco reigned supreme in the late 70s and early 80s. He DJ'd regularly in Anchorage back then, at local hots spots such as The Wood Shed and others. In New York City he had a regular gig at the famous Copacabana Nightclub.
So join me in celebrating a life lived and the next time you hear a Beatles tune quietly repeat one of his favorite Elton John lines ".. I'll see you while I'm tripping the light fantastic!" And as a former Navy man, we wish him "Fair winds and following seas!"
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Anne and George Koprowski; brothers, George and Bill; and sister, Barbara, all of New York City; and brother, Richard formerly of Anchorage. He is survived by brothers, Ken and Dave and sister, Janet, all of Florida; brother, Jim of New Jersey; and brother, Doug of Anchorage.
Love you Bro. Always!
