Apr 23, 2021

Lifelong Alaska resident Dr. William Luther Emerson, 50, passed away peacefully, on April 23, 2021, at his home in Fairbanks, Alaska, after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.

William was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on Aug. 11, 1970, to James and Karen Emerson. As a child, he attended the Anchorage School District, where he graduated from Bartlett High School, class of 1988. After graduation, Will pursued higher education at Bethel College, in Minneapolis, Minn., where he played college hockey for one year before transferring to University of Alaska Anchorage to chase his dream of becoming a chiropractor. In 1993, Will received acceptance to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa; here he met his wife, Veronica Latham Emerson. William and Veronica married on Sept. 28, 1996, in Davenport. In 1998, Will graduated from Palmer with a doctorate degree in chiropractic. Shortly after he obtained his degree, he returned home to Anchorage with his wife. In 1998, Will passed the Alaska State Chiropractic Exam and began to practice chiropractic with his father, Dr. James C. Emerson. Subsequently, Will opened his own practice, Emerson Chiropractic, in 2000. After practicing for several years in Anchorage, Will and his family relocated. In 2009, the family made Fairbanks their home. While in Fairbanks, Will embraced the community entirely, and valued helping people recover from their injuries in a natural manner. (North Country Health Center) In his passion to aid people holistically, Will continued to pursue higher education, ultimately obtaining a Ph.D. in naturopathy in 2011, from Kingdom College of Natural Health. He also loved coaching hockey and baseball for the kids in Fairbanks.

Will is survived by his wife, Veronica; children, London, Teagan and Kendall Emerson; brothers, Matthew (Doaa) Emerson and James (Melissa) Emerson; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 16, 2021, at 2p.m., at the Moose Lodge located at 98 10th Avenue in Fairbanks. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fairbanks Youth Baseball and Fairbanks Youth Hockey organizations.
