Charles Tskimeuk Kashatok

Our dear Charles Kashatok has passed away at the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska, on March 23, 2021.

Charles was born to parents Adam D. Kashatok and Katie M. Samson in Kipnuk, Alaska, on Nov. 21, 1948. He spent his early life in Kipnuk and settled in Anchorage. Charles obtained his mater's degree and proudly served in the United States Coast Guard in Alaska. Charles also spent many years as a teacher and principal for the Lower Kuskokwim School District before retiring completely in 2014.

He was a devoted member of the Anchorage Moravian Church. Charles spent his leisure time reading books, watching sports, fishing and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife, Platonida Kashatok; sons, Chris and Jeremy Kashatok; daughter, Maria Claudia Malavansky; daughter-in-law, Roxana Kashatok; brothers, Adolph Kashatok, Adam Kashatok Jr., Joseph Kashatok, Ernest Kashatok and Grant Kashatok; sisters, Natalie Angapak and Gladys Berge; grandchildren, Mercedes Cikigaq Kashatok, Makary Miisaq Kashatok, Victor Johnson, Lucious Johnson and Izzy Malavansky; and all of his in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
