Shawn Lyons passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, on Feb. 2, 2021.

He was born in Boston, Mass., on Jan. 3, 1955, the fourth of six children, and had lived in Anchorage for the past three decades.

Shawn was an avid hiker, musician, poet, photographer and a published writer, perhaps best known for his Walk-About Guides to Alaska. He was an armchair historian and classic literature aficionado who often ventured out to the Chugach Mountains and beyond.

There will be a virtual memorial on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at 8 p.m. ET; when the pandemic allows, there will be in-person services in both Anchorage and Westwood, Mass. For information about the memorial, please email shawnprobate2021@gmail.com.
