Kathleen Suzanne Christensen

May 3, 1953 -

Jan 12, 2021

Kathy Christensen, in an answer to her prayer, went home to be closer with the Lord, on Jan. 12, 2021, after a long battle with a undiagnosed neurological/gastrointestinal disease. Her desire had always been to be with Him. Through her love of Him she was foundational in the spiritual growth of many people.

Kathy lived in Anchorage, Alaska, since 1982, with her husband, Dennis Christensen and her son, Peter. She was born in Somis, Calif., in 1953, to Ruth and Robert McCarty, both who preceded her in death. Her sister Patty and her brother Steve both still live in Southern California. Kathy attended University of California Humbolt, studying wildlife biology, and there she further developed her passion for Christ and the word of God. She was foundational in many people's spiritual journey. While there she would get involved in a campus ministry and the local church. She would travel briefly after leaving Humbolt before landing in Visalia, Calif., where she met her husband Dennis. After getting married on April 25, 1981, they would move to Alaska a year later. Kathy again would teach Sunday school and lead various women's bible studies throughout her time in Alaska. Kathy loved the outdoors, sewing, cooking and many different crafts. She was an avid backpacker and bird watcher, all things that she shared with her husband and son.

There is no memorial service planned at this time. Her ashes will be spread in both the mountains and on the coasts of Alaska and California. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Kathy's name to Precept Ministries, customer service at 1-800-763-8280.
