Karla Dodge-Browne

Dec 8, 2020

Karla Dodge-Browne made her grand entrance into the world on April 24, 1956.

Coco Channel said, "In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different" and Karla was definitely one of a kind.

Her exceptional fashion sense could only be outmatched by her unparalleled sense of humor. She rarely missed an opportunity to tell a good story, always using her incredibly fascinating life experiences to make us all laugh.

Karla's life began in Anchorage, Alaska where she attended Airport Heights Elementary, Wendler Junior High School, East Anchorage High and Service High School, but it was not long before her adventurous spirit would take her around the world.

She lived in Hawaii, California, Oregon and Delaware and traveled throughout Europe and the Australian Outback.

From modeling, serving as a flight attendant for Diana Ross, working in the film industry in Los Angeles and Hawaii to having John Denver become part of the family, Karla was always comfortable in every moment and treated celebrities the same as the sales person in her favorite consignment shop.

After graduating from the University of Alaska, it was her job as a legal assistant for the municipal prosecutor's office where she truly used her strength, kindness and determination to demonstrate her commitment to protecting domestic violence victims.

Her humor and courage at unlikely moments is what perfected her indomitable spirit and made her light up a room with her unforgettable laugh.

She was a collector of beautiful clothes, antiques, jewelry, shoes and good friends. Shopping was her super power and through her generous spirit, she had the innate ability to always find the most thoughtful gift.

She has been described as the spice that you add right at the end of a soup to give it all of its unique flavor. Karla was freakin' fabulous and deserves a standing ovation for a life well lived and all who knew her are better for it.

Karla is preceded in death by her parents, Earl "Red" Dodge, Marieanne "Mike" Dodge; her brother, Michael Dodge; and uncle, Sam Dodge. She is survived and greatly missed by her brother, Steve Dodge (Betty), sisters Kristin Dodge-Quillin and Karel Dodge-Miller (Keith); aunts, Karel Atkinson, Helen Dodge and Lola Foglesong; and nieces and nephews, Michele Wall (David), Michael Dodge (Kelly), Pete Sesto, Malia Quillin, Mariah Quillin and Matthew Quillin; and former husband, Danny Browne; and many more extended family members and close friends.
