David Greig

Apr 13, 1985 -

Nov 27, 2020

On Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, David Joseph Greig, husband, father, son and brother, took his own life after a long struggle with substance abuse, at the age of 35.

David was born on April 13, 1985, in Edmonds, Wash., to Gary Greig and Tammy Haynes. He spent his adolescent years living with parents in both Washington and Alaska but made Anchorage, Alaska, his home in 2001. David worked various jobs throughout the years, but ultimately loved to work in trucking.

On July 21, 2012, he married Maricar Yuzon in an intimate and lighthearted ceremony at Elderberry Park in Anchorage, surrounded by their loved ones. They raised four children together.

David was a goofball. No dinner table was safe from his jokester ways. He had a heart of gold with an infectious smile. He had a passion for snowmachines, low riders and hip hop. Those who knew him, knew what a sensitive soul he truly was. His battle with addiction ultimately dimmed his light and sadly he succumbed to those demons. We will remember him through his children's eyes, their smiles and their laughter, for they embody everything we loved most about him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maricar; and their four children, Jenalyn, Kyle, Jaxson and Kendall; his parents, Gary and Tammy; along with his in-laws, Almario and Rossana Yuzon; his sister, Shannon and her husband Rob Pritchett; sister, Olivia Haynes; and sister in-law, Marianne Yuzon. He will be fondly remembered by several aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and close friends. David was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Barbara Greig; maternal grandparents, John Griffith and Patricia Siemering; stepfather, Larry Haynes; and his baby sister, Ashley Haynes.

A celebration of life will take place in spring 2021.
