Marilyn Irrigoo

Anchorage resident and former Gambell and Nome resident, beloved Marilyn "Sis" Asughlaan Irrigoo, died in Anchorage, Alaska at 7:20 a.m. on Nov. 14, 2020.

A virtual memorial service will be held by Zoom on Nov. 30, 2020, at 2 p.m. Please visit her Facebook page for details on the service.

Her ashes will be buried in Nome, along with her mother's, when it is safe to travel.

Marilyn was a loving and generous family member and friend to everyone. She was born in Gambell to Magdalene and Bernard Irrigoo. She had five siblings: Walton, Ronald, Connie, Bernard Jr. and Kevin.

She graduated from Nome-Beltz High School in 1982. In Nome, she worked at the Stop, Shop, and Save, Sitnasuak then Alaska Commercial Co. She met longtime partner Maurice Nattanguk, with whom she had two sons: Lawrence and Nicholas. They went their separate ways in 2010, but remained close.

Marilyn was a member of the Nome Presbyterian Church, Jewel Lake Parish and Anchor Presbyterian Church, both in Anchorage.

She worked for Bishop's Attic for more than 20 years, when the family moved to Anchorage. She met husband Troy Johnson there; they married in 2015. The couple's love shined through to all who knew them.

She is survived by Lawrence and Nicholas Nattanguk; husband, Troy Johnson; former partner, Maurice Nattanguk; sister, Connie Irrigoo; brothers, Walton Irrigoo and Bernard Irrigoo Jr.; former sister-in-law, Elena; nieces, Kristina, Tatyana, Amanda, Rachel and Willa; nephew, Christopher; hundreds of cousins around the U.S.; and aunties and uncles, Amelia, Delia, Paul, Yuung, Hanson and Crunch.

Marilyn was preceded in death by parents, Bernard Sr. and Magdalene Irrigoo; brothers, Ronald and Kevin Irrigoo; grandparents, Lawrence and Rosie Kulukhon; and Clarence Sr. and Mildred Irrigoo; and aunts, uncles and nieces.
