Scott Pettit

Jan 26, 1965 -

Oct 24, 2020

We have lost our beautiful, talented and loving son and brother, Scott. He died unexpectedly and peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, in Wasilla, Alaska.

Scott was born in Portland, Ore., to Bob and Robin Pettit on Jan. 26, 1965. He grew up as a "military brat" with two sisters. Scott traveled with his family across the U.S., living in various locations. The family lived 4 1/2 years in Germany and visited many countries. Scott loved exploring the castles of Germany, the windmills and tulip fields of Holland, climbing the Eiffel Tower in Paris, camping in the Swiss Alps and so much more that defined his character. He learned to speak German and French in his spare time.

He settled in Alaska in 1980, graduated from Wasilla High School in 1983, and went on to graduate from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Resource Management.

His work took him all over Alaska, from the North Slope to South East Alaska. He loved Alaska and all its wonders.

One of his many passions was gardening and he always grew the most gorgeous flowers that delighted his neighbors. He enjoyed holiday decorating and his home was always ablaze with Christmas lights to the delight of his nephew Robert. He also had a wonderful way with words. We will miss our human dictionary. His sister Jenny will miss their laughing together - the belly aching laughs.

Scott is survived by his mother and father, Bob and Robin Pettit; sister, Jeanette (Jenny) Pettit (Hill) and nephew, Robert Hill, all of Wasilla; sister, Debbie Munger and husband, Dave of Wellington, Colo.; uncle and aunt, Gary and Phyllis Dalton and family of Anchorage; aunt, Patricia Laub and family of Wasilla and Anchorage; auntie, Janie Dalton; and auntie, Linda Collins of Tucson, Ariz.

He was so loved and will be greatly missed.

Please send condolences to: Bob and Robin Pettit, P.O. Box 870667, Wasilla, AK 99687.

There will be no service at this time. Family requests, in lieu of flowers or gifts, that you donate in Scott's name to: Mat-Su Animal Shelter, 9470 Chanlyut Circle Palmer, AK 99645. Three of Scott's four pets came from the shelter.
