Rowena Adams

Rowena Mary Adams passed away at JBER Hospital on July 17, 2020, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Marge Caraghar; as well as her brother, Bill Caraghar, all of Denver, Colo. She is survived by her niece, Lauren Caraghar of Anchorage, Alaska; sister-in-law, Maralyn Devlin of Denver; many friends; and her two beloved cats.

Originally from Denver, Rowena made Anchorage her home for many years. She loved the uniqueness of Alaska and enjoyed touring the state with her friends as well as her brother and niece.

A graduate of West High in Denver, Rowena later returned to school and earned her Associate of Arts from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She retired from a long career as a Supply Technician at Fort Richardson Army Base, later Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. She liked using her talent for numbers and details in support of U.S soldiers at home and abroad.

Rowena was active in her community. She was a longtime volunteer at St. Patrick's Parrish and with the Mountain View Lions Auxiliary. She also participated in groups such as TOPS and Red Hats. Rowena was well known for her kind nature and sense of humor. She loved gathering with friends for laughs and a good meal. Rowena was fond of travel and had several memorable visits to scenic areas such as Hawaii and Arizona with friends. She was an avid reader and fan of British mystery shows. Rowena's passing leaves an empty space in many lives, and she will be dearly missed.

Funeral services and internment of ashes will take place on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick's Parrish, 2111 Muldoon Road in Anchorage. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Covenant House Alaska, St. Patrick's Parrish or any animal rescue charity.
