Oct 24, 2026

Kathleen Ann Horton passed away at her home on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026.

Kathy was born in 1954, in Beverly, Mass., to Leo and Irene DiPaolo (Markarian). After graduating from high school, Kathy moved to California where she began her career in the medical administration field. In 1989, Kathy moved to Alaska and worked as the office manager at AK Kidney Center. In 1992, Kathy married Tim Horton. The following year, they purchased the Long Rifle Lodge, overlooking the Matanuska Glacier, and operated it for the next 13 years. A wonderful cook, she was especially known for her delicious homemade pies. After selling the lodge in 2006, Kathy returned to work in medical administration at the AK Kidney Center and later worked at Liberty Dialysis, where she retired from in 2019.

Kathy was a gentle, loving and unselfish person. A wonderful wife, sister, aunt and cousin. She was very proud of her Italian/Armenian heritage and took great joy in maintaining relationships with family and friends. She was loved by many, and she will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Tim; brother, Bob and wife Diana; sister, Nancy and husband Jim; nephews, Steven (Nicole), David (Liz), Jesse (Akiliah) and Myles; great-niece, Luna; great-nephew, Alessio; and best friends, Lucky and Daniel.

A memorial service is planned for Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at Legacy Heritage Chapel, 440 East Klatt Road in Anchorage, Alaska.
