Steve Olsbo

Steve Olsbo passed away on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, in Florida, surrounded by family.
Steve was a U.S. Army veteran, a longtime Alaskan, a fiercely loyal friend and family member, and a man who never met a joke he was afraid to tell. Whether or not the joke was appropriate for his audience was sometimes beside the point.
He loved to laugh, but even more than that, he loved making other people laugh. Steve had a way of bringing people together and making sure there was never a shortage of conversation, stories, or humor when he was around.
Behind the jokes was a man who cared deeply about people. Steve was determined, intelligent, resourceful, and someone his family and friends knew they could depend on. If someone he cared about needed help, he found a way to help. If they needed support, he showed up. There was very little he wouldn't do for the people he loved.
Steve spent the majority of his life in Alaska, a place that became an inseparable part of his story. Although his life ended in Florida, surrounded by family, his ashes will return to Alaska and the place he called home for so many years.
He leaves behind countless stories, friendships, memories, and probably more than a few jokes his family will have to decide whether they can repeat in public.
Steve will be deeply missed. But if there is comfort to be found in losing someone who brought so much humor into the lives of others, perhaps it is this: remembering him will always come with laughter.
And Steve would probably prefer it that way.
