Rebecca Ann Makool, "Becky," died on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, at Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska, after a very courageous and long fought battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Becky was born in Janesville, Wis., on May 28, 1958. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Ann Makool (deceased). Becky graduate from Cambridge High School in 1976 and then went to Carroll College in Waukesha, Wis., now Carroll University. Becky moved to Alaska in the late '70s and spent most of her adult life there. She worked for native corporations in the Anchorage area and also worked for Alaska Magazine and the Anchorage daily paper.

She is survived by her older brother, Jonathan Makool of Madison, Wis.; younger sister, Rachel Makool (husband John Alt) of San Francisco, Calif.; sister-in-law, Doreen Mockross of Edgerton, Wis.; nephews, Nathanael Makool and Matthew Mockross; and many other friends and relatives on both sides of her family.

Becky was a writer and very hard worker. She was an extremely kind person who helped many others with her time, talents and treasure. She will be sorely missed.
