William "Bo" James Burton Jr.

William "Bo" James Burton Jr., 70, passed away on Jan. 13, 2026, in Anchorage, Alaska. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, at 10 a.m., at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street in Anchorage. Reverend Dr. Patricia Wilson-Cone of First American Baptist Church will officiate the service.

William was born on Oct. 5, 1955, in Media, Pa., to Martha and William Burton Sr. Bo attended Nether Providence High School and then joined the United States Air Force. He moved to Alaska in 1975, where he served in the military until 1979. Bo stayed in Alaska and went on to work for IBM as an electric technician. He was a proud member of the Teamster Local 959, where he served in numerous positions as well as worked as a chef in Alaska. Bo met Marva Bolden and the two were married in 1995. Bo was a spiritual person who loved God. He was a community activist in Media, Pa., where his family created a park for children. Bo loved fishing, hunting and all outdoor activities. His motto was "to show the love with the grub." No one was a stranger to Bo; he was always the life of the party.

Bo is survived by his beloved wife, Marva Bolden Burton; father, William J. Burton Sr.; sisters, Elizabeth and Iris Burton; brothers, Kenneth, Alben, Ronald and Richard Burton; daughter, Tanya Martin; son, Danni Martin; and a host of family and friends all around the world. Bo is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Burton.
