Oct 10, 2025
William McKinney Snyder, affectionately known as Bill, graduated to Heaven peacefully on the evening of October 10, 2025, at 11:24 p.m., surrounded by those he loved, after courageously battling cancer.
Bill was born on August 1, 1949, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Thomas "Ed" Snyder II and Eva Snyder. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, working in aviation electronics for seven years before building a long and dedicated career with the Municipality of Anchorage as the Foreman of the Traffic Department, from which he retired in 2003.
On August 28, 1975, Bill married the love of his life, Angela Snyder, in Lemoore, California, where he was stationed, and together they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. After getting out of the Navy, they made their home in Alaska for 27 years before moving to Michigan, and later settling in Richland, Washington, in 2008, where they have lived for the past 17 years.
Bill loved animals and had many through the years. He found great joy in working in his yard and took pride in keeping it beautiful. He especially enjoyed growing raspberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, roses, and flowers of all kinds—gardening was one of his greatest passions.
Although he and Angela were unable to have children of their own, Bill lovingly filled the role of a parental figure to Eva Archuleta and Nicole Koelbl. He was also a proud stand-in grandparent to their children, whom he adored deeply.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Angela Snyder; brothers, Thomas Snyder III and John Snyder; niece, Eva Archuleta (Josh) and their six children; nephew, Jonathan Snyder; Nicole Koelbl (Ken) and daughter; Uncle Herb and Aunt Jean McKinney; and many cherished cousins, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Thomas "Ed" Snyder II; both sets of his grandparents; Uncle Bill Snyder; and we know he was greeted in Heaven by his beloved dogs Lady and Smokey, along with many treasured cats and kittens who were part of his life over the years.
Bill will be remembered for his patience, strength, passion, sense of humor, and deep love for his family. His legacy of service, kindness, and faith will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.
Service information in Anchorage, Alaska to be announced.
