Jan 14, 2022

Vivian was born in Juneau, Alaska, on Sept. 20, 1945, to parents Paul E. Phillips and Daisy W. Williams.

Mom and Dad met at Percy's Cafe in Juneau, and got married in 1968. Soon came a baby girl named Cheryl Lynn Taylor; she has two kids, Madison and Samuel. Towards the end of our stay in Juneau, Eldon R. Taylor - he has a daughter, Matia - was born. I was already born - Yvonne Poston - have boys, Dylan and Joseph and am married to Michael Poston. My oldest sister Joanie - with her kids, John, Matthew and Keri - lives in Seattle with her family.

Grandma was all about the grandkids: they always had presents, learning how to bead, eating native food and listening to the stories she had when she was a kid. Our families do not live in the same area, so we usually brought Grandma to us. I believe the most fun she had was in England. She flew there to see Dylan graduate. Cheryl's kids graduated out in Sleetmute and of course, the grandkids enjoyed seeing their grandparents show up. Grandma met Joseph in Seattle, Wash., to help him celebrate his graduation in high school. Grandma was all about family. Even if you were not blood, you were family.

There was so much laughter when all of kids came around! It did not stop there: everywhere we went, she made someone smile, she waived hi, she hugged, she prayed for them, she even sang a song to them. She always made sure she left them with a smile. She loved people. She felt that they all needed to be told they are loved.

Mom's hobbies where beading, selling jewelry at the events, go to the Native picnics and Christmas parties, bingo was a great big favorite place to go and visit all of her friends. She loved to travel and visit all of her kids.
