Stephen Abbott Repp passed peacefully with family by his side on July 17, 2025, in Monrovia, Calif., at the age of 77. He was born on Oct. 25, 1947, in Tiffin, Ohio.

Growing up Steve worked on the Repp family farm in Tiffin, and when not helping on the farm he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and selling the hides - this was a foundation that his life would forever revolve around. He was a world class cook and a consummate foodie. His life was all about food, growing food, harvesting food, catching food, preserving food and shopping for food, especially at famers markets. One of the things he was most proud of was that his children and grandchildren inherited his love of all things food and each in their own way are foodies.

After graduating from high school, he attended Case Institute of Technology before serving in the U.S. Army, and later completed a chemical engineering degree at Ohio State University.

He first worked for Dow Chemical and later with British Petroleum (BP). In 1981, he transferred to Alaska with BP, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring in 2015. Steve enjoyed all that Alaska had to offer with his young family: mountain climbing, fishing, hiking, camping and berry picking to name a few.

Steve left his mark on many projects in Prudhoe Bay and lived and worked in Novosibirsk, Siberia, for two years in 2004.

In his retirement, he was a snowbird in Monrovia, where he loved to tend to his rose garden, fruit trees, tomato plants and seasonal vegetable gardens.

Steve's cooking, kindness, wisdom, wit and love will be missed dearly by us all.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Edith; children, Micah (Graciela), Sarah Peterson and Joseph (Dana); their mother, Jacque Repp; stepchildren, Christopher Schneider (Lesley) and Jessica Corbett (Devin); brother, Doug Repp; six grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, Eileen Kay and Eugene Repp; sister, Lynn Kenney; brother, Tom (April 2026); and son-in-law, Christopher Peterson.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, from 1-3 p.m., at Moose's Lodge, 4211 Arctic Boulevard in Anchorage.
