Robert Bruce Snodgrass died on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021, at the age of 22, as as direct result of the disease alcoholism and drug addiction. His grandfather Bruce and his father Robert died of the same addiction.
Robert Bruce was was born in Providence Hospital, Anchorage, Alaska, on June 4, 1999, to Sandy Snodgrass and Robert Stewart. Bruce and Sandy lived in Anchorage and then moved to San Diego, Calif., to live near Sandy's parents. At the age of 2, Bruce became a prodigy of adventure: tree climbing, scooters, dirt bikes, ocean swimming and hiking with his grandmother. The scooter traveled everywhere, and the trees and woods were always there. Bruce excelled in all athletics and was afforded many opportunities to camp, swim and surf, do karate, Parkour, gymnastics and football, and exceeded the norm in all. Bruce was able to move to his true Alaska home as a teen, where he personified the outdoor spirit and gained a true understanding of survival in nature with animals and free solo climbing.
He is survived by his mother, Sandy; aunt and uncle, Liz and Hugh Ashlock; two cousins, Maddie and Emma; and his loving grandparents, Winnie and John Nabors; as well as many other family members.
Bruce will be remembered as soft-hearted, giving and an adventurous soul.
