Richard Linville Runyan, 58, of Big Lake, Alaska, passed away on June 16, 2024, in Eagle River, Alaska, after a brave and long battle with cancer.
Richard Linville Runyan was born in Rantoul, Ill., to Richard L. and Shari K. Runyan on May 4, 1966, and was a proud 1985 graduate of Chugiak High School in Chugiak, Alaska. After high school he worked in construction and plowed snow in the winters. His love for music was lifelong and during the years after high school, he would often be found playing his guitar with his band in the local pubs. In fact, this is how and where he met his fiancee, Stacie D. Johnson, who at that time was playing in another band. They shared their love for music. In addition to his love of music was his enjoyment of wakeboarding in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. Richard also loved animals and those who knew him called him the animal whisperer.
Richard is preceded in death by his father, Richard L. Runyan. He is survived by his fiancee, Stacie D. Johnson; mother, Shari K. Mac Gregor, and brother and sister-in-law, Glenn A. and Kacy E. Runyan.
Per Richard's wishes, his ashes will be spread in Big Lake, where he chose to call home for the better part of 25 years. Also per his wishes, no funeral service will be held. Instead, Richard wanted a Celebration of Life, which will be held at a future date, yet to be determined.
