Raymond Ellis

Raymond Jay Ellis, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed on Aug. 20, 2026, at the age of 93, joining the love of his life, Crysta Ellis. Ray was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 4, 1933.
He was an Army MP in Germany. While on leave traveling through Paris he met his wife Crysta; they were married in England on May 15, 1957.
After the Army, Ray went on to graduate school and became a CPA.
In December 1962, he was transferred to Anchorage, Alaska. During his working career as a CPA he opened his own firm, becoming friends with his many clients.
He joined Congregation Beth Sholom and became active in the Jewish community. He served on numerous nonprofit boards. He was a Rotarian for over 50 years, and a life member of AMVETS. Ray was a philanthropic in thought and deed, founding the Ellis Family Foundation.
Ray had a wanderlust goal in life and enjoyed travels near and far. He always said that every day was an adventure. In 2019, he was honored to join the "Last Frontier Honor Flight" which went to Washington, D.C.
The one role that was his most important and the most fun was being a dad and a grandpa. Though he had countless adventures throughout his life, spending time with his family was considered his greatest adventure. He supported his children and grandchildren anyway he could and always with loads of love. His saying was "Family is Everything." Raymond is survived by his children, Elizabeth, Tim, Jason, and Sarah; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at the Anchorage Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026, at Temple Beth Sholom. Donations may be made to Congregation Beth Sholom in Ray's name.
