Jul 24, 2026

Patrick J. Baker, age 89, passed away on July 24, 2026, in Georgia. Born in Greenville, Pa., he was a graduate of St Michaels High School, '54; Alexian Brothers of Chicago, Ill,, '57; as well as a pursuit of lifelong learning in which he obtained three Master of Science degrees. A veteran of the U.S. Airforce, he served 22 years as a nurse anesthetist and retired with the rank of Colonel. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and raised his family in Anchorage, Alaska for 20 years. Although he retired to Bluffton, S.C., where he resided for 20 years, his heart never left the Chugach Mountains. Every summer, he returned to the place he loved.

Long after he could no longer navigate the slippery rocks and rushing waters of the Russian River or venture into the depths of the Kenai, Mother Nature would call him home once more. When his old fisherman's frame could no longer hold him, he simply moved to the shore casting his line and finding his way back to the waters that had always given him peace. No doubt, he is fishing the rivers in Heaven.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; two brothers; three daughters and sons-in-laws; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
