Monica Lord-Wolf (Ilgwa'), 66, passed away in the early morning of Monday, Aug. 10, 2026. Born in Sitka, Alaska, on Aug. 5, 1960, to Nellie and Gilbert Lord Jr., Monica was born into the Kwaashk'i Kwaan clan and the Dis Hit clan house.

Raised in Sitka, Monica graduated from Sitka High School, where she excelled academically, participated on the drill team and was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Throughout her life, she remained deeply rooted in her culture and community, serving as an engaged member of the Alaska Native Sisterhood and a passionate advocate for cultural and spiritual wellness.

Following in the compassionate footsteps of her mother, Nellie, Monica's heart and home were always open to those in need. Whether family or friends were facing physical or spiritual pain, or navigating financial hardship, Monica met them with open arms. She was exceptionally resourceful, guiding countless individuals toward healing and stability by connecting them with essential community services and support.

Monica met Kane Wolf, and together they had three children. She was a constant source of wisdom through life's uncertainties and grief, as well as a joyous champion of life's victories—always the loudest voice cheering on the youngest family members as they celebrated their own milestones.

Monica is survived by her children, Kristofer and Suzanne; cherished grandchildren, Grace Wolf, Tyler Wolf, Seth Shelver, Adriel Wolf, Oliver Wolf, Emily Wolf and Ivy Shelver; and siblings, Vik Lord Irwin, Arleen Henry, Katie Lord-Fraker, Tomi Phillip, Dorothy Lord-Matthew and Richard Lord. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gilbert Lord III; and beloved son, Nicholas.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, at 1 p.m., at Legacy Heritage Chapel at Angelus, 440 E Klatt Road in Anchorage, Alaska. A potluck-style reception will immediately follow the service at the chapel. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in sharing food and memories as we celebrate Monica's life.

A service in Yakutat, Alaska, to lay Monica to rest will be scheduled for summer 2027, with details announced at a later date.
