Miles W. Dean

Miles W. Dean, 80, born in Sidney, Mont., on May 8, 1939, passed away Dec. 26, 2019, in Mukilteo, Wash. Miles had been in a memory care nursing home for 16 months.

As a child, Miles grew up on his parents farm, where he learned his work ethics, and went to West Fairview High School in Fairview, Mont.

Miles left high school, furthering his education after joining the Air Force where he was trained as a jet mechanic. He left the Air Force with an honorable discharge.

Miles met and married Marlene Sigman; they had four children. Miles and Marlene were married for 32 years; the marriage ended in divorce.

Miles worked around the country welding and working as a roustabout.

Miles moved his family to Alaska in July 1967, where he had several businesses during the next 51 years. He owned and operated Cook Inlet Welding, Dunamis Electric, and MWD Company (a pile driving company) and a few others.

Miles had several patents, to include mounting a pile driver on an excavator, in-situ containment of nuclear waste, and a clean coal burning process.

Miles was preceded in death by parents, Dale and Ella Dean; siblings, James Dean and Arlen Dean; children, Baby Girl Dean and Lorena Dean.

Miles is survived by longtime girlfriend Sandi Billingsley; children, Leila Clark (Greg), Sherwyn Dean (Selina); siblings, Desmond Dean (Gerry), Darlene DellaBovie (Tony), Robert Dean (Lola), Linda Sullivan (Floyd), Stanley Dean (Patsy), Lorlys Dean (Charlene), Carol Dean and Joseph Dean; grandchildren, Marita Clark, Roxanne Clark, Brittany Carey and Morgan Kramer; former wife, Marlene Dean; several nieces and nephews and 6 great-grandchildren.

Service will be held on March 13, 2020, at 3 p.m., at Church of the Nations 810 E 9th Ave., Anchorage, AK 99501.
