Some stories just cannot be told, especially about our brother, Michael. After a protracted illness, Michael Hurn passed away peacefully on April 12, 2021, with his partner and constant companion of 39 years, Julie Ann Cross, by his side and surrounded by family and friends. The love doesn't end and the pain for those left behind can only be diminished with the memories of good times and laughter that was shared by all who know him.
Michael Scott Hurn Sr. was born in Nashville, Tenn., on July 11, 1950, and came to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1962, where he resided the rest of his life. He began riding motorcycles as soon as he was old enough to do so and joined The Brother's motorcycle club in 1972. In 1982, he became one of the founding members of the Anchorage chapter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club.
He was a stalwart champion for his enormous family, extended family and friends. During his turbulent life he sustained many, many injuries from catastrophic events. He is renowned as a true survivor who fought back against overwhelming odds to continue an adventurous and exciting life.
Although the stories can't be told here, we'll have a chance to tell some on Saturday, June 26, 2021. At 1 p.m., the Celebration of Michael's Life will begin at the Birchwood Saloon in Chugiak, Alaska. It will move to the Buckaroo Club in Anchorage around 4 p.m., where the festivities and memories can continue to be shared.
